Serve - Near

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." - Jesus speaking on the night before His death (John 13:34-35)

God blesses His people so that we can be His hands and feet of blessing to others. As a chuch in the heart of Sioux Falls, Faith has many opportunities to bless and serve our neighbors. Here are a few highlights of Faith's current service efforts in Sioux Falls:

Matthew 28 Adoption Ministry - Faith recently created an adoption ministry, in partnership with Bethany Christian Services, to support Christian families in the process of adopting children, either domestically or internationally. This ministry was featured in Lifelines Magazine. (The article is found on p. 17-19 in the Fall 2016 issue.)

Sunday Service Squared - This special Sunday (SS2) happens each year near the end of May or the beginning of June. On SS2 Sunday, Faith gathers for worship at 9:00 a.m. Immediately after the service, the congregation breaks out into a dozen or more service teams to engage in basic service projects, such as visiting a local assisted living center, washing cars, paying for laundry at local landromats, picking up litter, etc. (THe NEXT SS2 IS ON SUNDAY, JUNE 4, 2017. SAVE THE DATE AND JOIN US!)

Serving at The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House (BDHH) and The Banquet - Faith was blessed with a "Stand with Your Community Grant" from The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Portions of the grant funds are being used to provide lunch for our neighbors at the nearby BDHH one or more times per month. (Serving times are listed on the church calendar.) Faith also serves dinner at The Banquet one or more times per year.

The Clothesline - This is an "Angel Tree" opportunity each fall and winter. Faith members provide coats, snow boots and snow pants, hats, and mittens for needy children at a local public elementary school.

Comfort Food Ministry - Faith provides simple, nutritious meals for families facing illness, grief, welcoming a new baby, etc. These meals are frozen and available to share at any time.

Bike For Life and Diaper Derby - Each Fall, Faith supports Lutherans for Life of Southeast South Dakota in the annual Bike For Life. Cyclists ride up to 100 miles in support of a local crisis pregnancy center, the Alpha Center. Each Spring, Faith participates in a diaper derby to gather diapers and baby wipes for the Alpha Center.
